Where Y'all At

We interrupt our regularly scheduled program . . . Nas has new music!

Salaam Remi on the beat. Nas back in lean mode.

[NAS]
I slow dance with the devil
Snow setting in the bezel
Mo' sipping, Phantom
Bumping Aaron Neville
Polo Black scented
Eyes squinted
Air Force One's
With my own patent in it
Crescent in the star glowing up in the galaxy
Pagan holidays are way far from my reality
Fart through Evisu jeans, lethal green
Oliver Peoples shades when I creep through Queens
With no AK's, I'm the ambassador
Robin Hood in the Aston-Mar'
Lotta blood gonna splash in war
Task force, homicide, federalies gonna harass, but y'all
Ain't never seen nothing
Not a word, not a hint
On the kid from the project bench
That went -- Sony BMG
To that new conglomerate
Island Def Jam
Guess how many dollars was spent
To get the best man
Y'all niggas ain't silencing shit
Ya bitch been wanna polish the dick
The big Benz, I'ma model ya chick
With Zac Posen, cash froze her
Cat stroker, once I smash, it's over
Cold like ice, more chains than slaves
Dangerous ways, Poltergeist
Change the channel, roll the dice
I bring change when I gamble
I could sell sand to a Arab
Hiding my gun handle

The ill whip pusher
My spit wet ya
If you stand close to the woofer
Bet'cha get sprayed by my lecture
Any club where ladies are dimes, I'm a regular
Give it up smooth, I ain't begging ya
Intelligent brainiac, brains maniac
Back of the Maybach
Taste that, don't waste that
Eat with my elbows top of the table
Street etiquette with speech impediments
And still see presidents
No matter who paid
Cause you ain't take the last dollar made
Long as they keep printing it, there's chances of getting it
Money's my bitch, and we stay intimate
Ask about Nashawn, could ask about Jung'
Ask about Bravehearts, and ask where I'm from
Q-Boro, specifically The Bridge
Don't ask no more question, y'all know what it is

Whether chrome-sparking or loan sharking
Busting ratchets or numbers rackets or drug traffic
My funds are wrapped up, no concerns who has what
Financer, skull doo-ragged up
Mob life, prizefights
Plasma TVs or first row
Diversify dough in my circle
Amid the most sickest groom
The proof swiftness
Numero uno, annuit cœptis
That's the language of our Latin ancestors
On the back of a dollar, the plan and the message
In a Rolls Royce like the King of Nigeria
My criteria -- smoke cigars
Change rap like Jimi Hendrix
Changed rock and roll with a broke guitar
Diamonds flashing
Almost put a million cash in
My mommy casket
Seen more green than St. Patrick

Nas is spitting straight, his flow is dope on this beat. Almost esco-esque in terms of lyrics?

Only criticism is that the beat gets a bit boring other than that this gives hope for his album

In the part where it says "???" it sounds like "Imma model" or else "I'm a model"

and then at the end of that verse, "Hot and my gun handle"
i think he says "Hiding my gun handle"

Good work though, props.

Yeah, I got this yesterday and listened to it a number of times. Good track. I think the track would've worked a hell of a lot better with some real scratching on the hook. As it stands the hook sounds like some Fruity Lopps abortion.

And I agree with DoubleP on the lyrics.

Thanks for the lyrics corrections, guys. I typed that up literally minutes before heading out this morning, so it was a once through and I'm glad y'all caught my mistakes.

Beat is real dope, sparse, murky, old-school vibe. However, Colin, yeah, I do agree that some real scratching would be in order. It's the same thing Remi did w/ the Talk of New York hook, and it fails in the same way. Maybe they can adjust it by LP release time.

Real nice song though. I'm saying at least 4.25/5 now. (Nas gets quarter points.)

Favorite parts:

1. Agent Skully:
Intelligent brainiac, brains maniac
Back of the Maybach
Taste that, don't waste that
^^wonder if anyone missed that

2. $$$:
Still see presidents
No matter who paid
Cause you ain't take the last dollar made
Long as they keep printing it, there's chances of getting it
Money's my bitch, and we stay intimate
^^laudable philosophy + good reference + nice punch

3. Experience:
My criteria -- smoke cigars
Change rap like Jimi Hendrix
Changed rock and roll with a broke guitar
^^worthy double & a Hip-Hop Hendrix reference that doesn't make me cringe

"I'ma model your chick for Zac Posen", he says, and it seldom gets any more interesting than that, but the hunger is there, and that's all I really expect from Nas at this point. I really dig the beat and the sampled chorus.

Anyonymous, you get points. The lyrics were up on a couple different sites, and while all my other (many) slip-ups had been caught, you got the one no one else did. (Although I hear "with" and not "for" still.) I even had to ask my sister about Zac Posen, because I hadn't heard guy mentioned before just now. . . .That means that Nas got in a gang of namebrand references in that first verse. Wonder if he's hanging out too much with Kelis or Jay-Z . . . :)

Googled: Kelis & Zac Posen
